The artist Maya Kogan’s fascination with toys began in childhood- she was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Growing up with an art loving father has influenced her to pursue art later in her life. As far back as she can remember, her love for toys has been a big part of her joy. From tin toy collections, Barbie dolls and Kinder
toys. Toys are something she has always played with, dreamed about, and crafted.
Mother of four and a child at heart, raising and playing with the children gave her another opportunity to express, create, and share. The years passed by, the kids grew up, and the passion to create and reconnect burst – the toys got a fresh new life and so did she.
She and her family lived in California, Atlanta and Pennsylvania for 5 years when the kids were young. They moved back home to Tel Aviv in 2005. As an executive at an international school in the Middle East, she brings all her passions and unique spirit to recruit exceptional young students from around the globe.
Kogan’s artwork features a vibrant mix of toys, including childhood favorites and unexpected finds. Whether it’s a beloved Kinder Surprise figurine or a forgotten action hero, each piece holds the potential to spark a memory and ignite a connection with the viewer’s own playful past. From cherished collections to playful characters, these miniature objects hold a special place in her heart. Kogan’s artistic process breathes new
life into these toys, transforming them into captivating works of art.
By transforming ordinary toys into art, she creates a space for playful exploration and a joyful reconnection with our inner
child. This act of transformation is not just artistic; it’s also a form of upcycling, giving new life to previously discarded objects.
Each of Kogan’s pieces is meticulously crafted, featuring dozens of meticulously arranged toys that come together to tell a unique story.
